Following her historic open-door policy during the onset of her administration, Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag, together with the City College of San Fernando administration, is leading another notable project in the aspect of Education—the “Isang Guro, Isang Barangay” project.

On July 15, 2024 at the Heroes Hall, during the LGU’s weekly flag-raising ceremony, the project was officially launched by Caluag, together with her fellow officials and the CCSFP Administration, headed by President Atty. Gloria Victoria-Bañas.

The “Isang Guro, Isang Barangay” project aims to get at least one CCSFP student from all 35 barangays of San Fernando who will take any of the five specializations of the college’s Education program: Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, and the three areas of the Secondary Education (English, Mathematics, and Science).

With the program commencing this year, the admission process for the aspiring Aslag ning Balen in the Education program involved this measure. By 2028, Caluag envisions that every barangay in San Fernando will have at least one professional teacher who will be of service to their constituents and help the City College and the local government unit realize their vision, mission, and core values.

Apart from the free tertiary education, the beneficiaries of the “Isang Guro, Isang Barangay” project will be eligible to qualify for the receipt of various privileges, such as scholarship grants—including one from the partner North American University in Texas, USA—and recognition of their parents. Further, barangays with the greatest number of teacher education graduates will also be awarded.

Caluag, Bañas, and the entire CCSFP Education community were joined by City Vice Mayor BJ “Tiger” Lagman, City Councilors Brenz Gonzales and Ricky Hizon, and City Administrator Engr. Nelson Lingat. | 𝘾𝙄𝙊-𝙀𝘾𝘽, 𝙍𝙈𝙈, 𝙎𝘿𝙇
